Body lift installed, need help with tires
sorry I missed your other reply, it kind of sound like i'll have to either get bigger wheels or spacers to get bigger tires. I have the 265/70r/17 on there now
yeah sorry I missed your other reply too. do you think it would be worth it to just get new wheels. I heard mixed reviews about the spacers.
To get in the big 300's your correct.
as far as width goes, how wide can you go on the stock wheel itself. (ignoring if it will fit on the truck for a moment) Is there a limit of how wide of a tire the actual rim can withstand? Can you put a 12.50 wide tire on the stock rim or would that be to wide for it. How would you be able to know how wide you can go? These are the things that I just do get
You can get an idea of the rim needed if you go to tirerack.com. Do a search for the size tire you are thinking about and look at the specs. It will tell you the rim width that you would need. Generally speaking, anything wider than a 315 or so is going to be getting close to too big for a stock 17" rim. I believe the stock rim is 8.5" wide. You could probably put something wider than a 315 on it, but you are getting to the point where you could come off the rim if you get a little frisky with your driving.
BTW, I have 295/70/17 on my stock rims and I come real close to rubbing the UCA. It doesn't rub, but it is darn close.

Technically speaking on a 17x8 rim you COULD put a 12.5" wide tire on it but I wouldn't recommend it. With all the sidewall you'd have on a tall tire you would stand a big chance of busting a bead if you were to off road or even take a corner too fast. If you were going to go with a 12.5" wide tire, I'd look at the LEAST a 9" wide rim but preferably a 10" rim would be your safest bet.
If you get a quality spacer like hubcentric you shouldn't have a problem. Most guys just prefer to go with an aftermarket rim with more backspacing and negative offset so the tire is pushed out more.
Just a few of my thoughts
