Default towing capacity blunder

Something I just read that interested me. According to "automotive" a properly equipped 1500 hemi can tow 9200lbs while the same model with a 4.7 can only tow 7450lbs. Does the motor make this big of a difference? I know the hemi makes a lot more power stock but dang.....basically i want to know if what they posted is true or maybe if they left out some facts.

And I think the 3.7 can only do 5500.

Never knew why that is. Im guessing its the fact that with a load the hemi can maintain speed in traffic better than the 4.7. The 4.7 barely has enough power get out of its own way let alone tow 7450 pounds lol...

Last summer i flat towed my buddies 86 f-250 diesel with my 4.7 and 35" tires...not fun! haha.

So I guess it does come down to power. Maybe its cuz I have a regular cab but my truck has never had a problem with getting out of its own way lol.

Most likely they rated the hemi with 3.92s and the 4.7 with 3.55s.

think about going up a hill with the 4.7 and it stuggles, the hemi doesn't have a problem. now thing about it with a load on the back. There's your answer, torque and horsepower. Also the gearing helps too.

More displacement and torque to safely pull the load. Everyone knows our trucks can haul a much higher rated capacity but the tow rating is based off the mfg determination of what can be safely towed.
