Default suspension question

I have an 08 dodge ram 1500 2 wd and i want to lower the rear of the truck to make it sit even with the front. with that said, i want to use blocks, can i put the axel on top the leaf springs, or do i have to se shackles? if i can put the axel on top the springs, will i need to replace anything, or will i need anything special?

Axle on top of the leaf spring is what's called a flip. Use one of two parts to get a level truck. Either leveling blocks, which install In ur front end. Or drop shackles, which install in the rear of the truck. Lowering the rear end 2 inches. U need to either raise the front end 2 inches, or drop the rear end 2 inches. How/what u do, us entirely up to you.
Hope that helps.

If you use shackles in the back, most kits don't lower the truck a "true" 2". You'll probably have to remove the ol springs.

Ok guys, i tried to drop the back today, but when i took the stuff apart, i noticed that the axel has a braket welded on. If i flip the axel over, will that effect the drivability of the truck, of will it mess anything up? I have not done the drop yet, because i did not want to screw anything up.

You need to either build or buy a flip kit. It looks like this when installed.

A flip kit. Use the supplied shackles. The only way removing the overload leaf will give u another inch is if u don't do the axle flip. A flip kit from DJM is a good choice. Keep in mind that a 4 inch drop on the rear end without doing a drop spring swap on ur front end will leave u sagging in the back quite a bit.
