Well being an '04 puts it at 6.5yrs old because the truck could have been purchased in September/October of '03. 112kmi/6.5yrs=17kmi per year. Not exactly what I would call highway, but more so just normal driving. Most people put on 15k per year and being in florida isn't that hard to do.
I love it when I se these vehicles that are 10yrs old with 100kmi and they say highway miles...lol uhh no.
Now, florida miles are definately easier on the suspension and other components because it's practically all 2 lane semi-highways to get everywhere. Who knows how many miles wer put on in the city? They could have had a legal address in Florida while driving it in the city?
I'd reccomend doing a CARFAX on it if you are interested. I would also have it scanned at Advance Auto to see if all of the DTC;s have been reset and are ready to roll because Florida has no inspection much less emissions inspections.
$14.5k is a lot for that truck. It book for $13.6k at High retail and that's if there is NO work needed such as brakes, tires, fluid changes...etc
I'd ask for mainenance reciepts. If none can be shown, then automatically assume that the front diff/rear diff/transfercase and transmission fluid all need to be flushed and replenished. Fluid alone for that will run $250 not including labor and another $30 for the trans filters. Also, 112kmi will need the radiator coolant flushed and also the powersteering and brake fluid should be done at that mileage as well. Figure in more time and money for that.
Most people never even consider stuff like that when they are asking thei highest dollar. i won't buy neglected vehicles for anywhere near that price.

That's about $2k high for an '04 4x4 with upwards of 100k miles on it based on local central Florida prices.
The mileage doesn't scare me at all if you can get down around $12-12,500. Quite a few Hemi's riding around with upwards of 200k miles on them. But the thing I don't like is the mods. Scooped hood, subs under the rear seats - grandpa wasn't driving this truck!!!
I'd spend $75-100 BEFORE making a deal (assuming they are willing AND willing to meet your price) and have the engine looked over by a qualified mechanic and possibly even have him do a compression test. It's better to spend a $100 and walk, then buy it and have thousands or more in repairs!
If all seems good with it at that point AND you can get it down to that $12k range, you'd have yourself a nice truck there.
Just to compare, last year I "shopped" mine around at a couple local dealers to possibly trade on a new '09 2500 CTD 4x4 and the best I could get for my truck was $14,250 with only 38k miles on it AND a good $8000 in mods...

The miles are not too bad for the year, but not great. The price on the other hand is just too high. If that is his starting point and he is willing to work toward a reasonable price, then I would take a good look at it and see if it has the features and is in the condition you want. But if he is sticking to or around that price, I would look elsewhere.
