Exclamation Help!! Spring stuck!!!

ok I was trying to put my drop shackles on and i removed the bottom bolt and i guess there was alittle more tension on the spring and it shot up and now its stuck... How do i loosen it up?? please any help my is greatly appreciated!!

The spring is jammed in the shackle? Sounds like it might need the rear axle lifted (floor jack or whatever) to take the load off.

Is it the bolt that holds the leaves together? If so can you put a c clamp on there and wrench them back together that way?

That may not even be the bolt you're talking about though.

If not that one, like Mike said try to jack up the assembly and take the pressure off the bolt.

its the bolt for the shackle. i had the jack under the rear axle and had it lifted but there was still tension. where should i put the jack then? thanks for the help

if its stuck under the body . just jack up the chassis or lower the rear end. I had my hand stuck between the main spring bolt eye and the chassis lol had to get a buddy to tack up the truck to take the tension off ... broke a couple bones . just be careful when working with springs hahaha

haha wasnt fun . make the best of it, it was 3500 heavy duty springs lol .. my fault never had the chassis up high enough.

ok i got the shackle out and can move the leaf but need to move it more to get the new shackle on

im guessing your rear end is as low as it can go . and you've lifted the truck for more space?

Silver,
The jack should be lifting the frame with the wheel remaining on the ground. This takes the load off the shackle. With the load off the shackle, simply adjust the hieght of the frame to where you can move the spring end back into position with the new shackle. Good luck...
