Default Door locks failure?

Ok so my truck in the last few weeks has been acting weird, the drivers side door when I hit the keyless entry (Viper Aftermarket) the lock pops up but its not letting me open the door. I put the key in and turn to the left and hold it there then simultaneously use the handle to open the door. Any clues or anyone have this happen before?

It was happening every so often now it's an every day thing.

Sounds like the lock linkage has gone away. What happens if you're in the truck and pull the lock up?

The lock it's self I can hold it and it still doesn't want to release the handle. When I'm on the inside and lift the handle it releases just fine but feels kind of weak, as if the door isn't completely shut

Sounds like the same problem I had with a Chevy 1500. It acted like it was still locked. The linkage between the outside handle and the door release mechanism broke (5 times). Thanks, GM.

Ok...probably dealer only....I wonder if it would be under warranty. Most likely not because I have the aftermarket stuff on there and they'll say "oh it's modified, warranty VOID"....Did you buy it as a kit or piece by piece

The linkages on the Chevy were all replaced under warranty -- with the same low-quality part as it came with. If you have an extended warranty that covers better than most, it'll be covered.

open the door up, find the broken part. i would assume it to be a cable of some sort. go down to home depot, get some cable, and some crimps, and make your own replacement. ive never done this, but in my head, it sounds like it would work.

For my Chevy, it was a cheap piece of pot-metal linking the outside handle to the door-release mechanism. The cable/crimps thing might work. Those linkages take a beating. The door on my Chevy was probably opened 30-50 times a day.

Good luck, OP. Might want to read the fine print on the warranty before you spend a c-note on "diagnosis".
