I have had it installed for over a month now. I am averaging a .75 city and 2.1 highway mpg increase over the stock intake and I am actually driving harder than before.

The other thing that has not been brought up yet, is the vararam is not loud like most other cai. I may be slightly louder than stock, but you do not get the normal cai noise.

The VR is the only TRUE cai as it actually gets air from outside the engine bay. If you can swing it, and you like the retro look, there is no doubt that the VR is better than a typical filter-on-a-stick type intake.

No worries with the gravel road, that's what the filter is for. I run mine on the beach, in tropical storms, dusty dirt roads, blizzards, no issues.
Sweet so go for it what do you mean by if I can swing it? I'm not really worried about looks under the hood as long as it performs better.

Don't expect 100hp or anything like that. You should notice a little fuel mileage improvement and better throttle response especially when passing.

Yep, single biggest thing I see with guys who spend $250-300 on a mod like a CAI or tuner. They expect gains like they'd see out of a couple grand job like heads & a cam or a blower and are disappointed.

You get what you pay for and all those things on the TV that are "too good to be true" ARE, every time!!!

Personally, I like the Vararam setup, especially the retro look and I'd love to put one in, mainly to free up the passenger side wall for a second battery. But I get in some deep doo-doo at times, especially hog huntin' and I can't afford to chance pulling air from where the Vararam gets it from...

I love mine!! I picked up like 1.5 mpg. I actually put my foot in it all the time getting on the highway so I can hear the engine. It is so awsome! Its like hammer and glass said don't expect great things from it, hp. wise. Oh I also noticed an increase in throttle response.
