Default Steering rack and tie rods?

The steering rack is leaking and I need to replace the tie rods. Where is the best place to get the parts? i was told that the aftermarket steering racks are awful. Also, can I do this myself? Have a 2004 Quad 4x4.

Had to do this on mine this winter its not too difficult just takes time and make sure the replacement steering rack is full before u install it and that the o ring seals are replaced and count the turns that the old tie rod ends take to come off and put the new ones on the same amount of turns lastly after u fill the ps pump start the truck and idle it for a minute then check the level and top up if needed then turn the steering side to side about a dozen times but not to full lock cause that can damage a new rack. And i used an aftermarket re-man of an oem and havnt had any issues yet

Where did you get it? Also did you get a core charge for your old one?

i just replaced my tie rods on both sides and they cost about $30 each at advance auto, as stated count the number of rotations when you take them off and even if your alignment seams ok still get it done mine was off and i couldn't tell

My mechanic told me to call O'Reily's. They have a reman. original one for $300 plus $100 core. So I am looking at just having 200 in it. Also I am getting the rotors and pads done to. He said he would only charge labor on the rack not the rotors, pads, or tie rods. I was looking at $150 for labor on all of it.
