Are these electronic throttle bodies all slow to respond? This is my first truck that doesn't have a cable driven throttle body. I'd expect some kind of delay but this is ridiculous. When pulling into traffic you have to push the throttle 1-1.5sec before you want to move. Seriously you can count a whole second before you even hear the engine rev up. Is this normal? I've tried cleaning the throttle body and recalibrating it(not even sure if that works on these). Anyone got anymore ideas of things I can try? I'm out of ideas.

 

Well I cam tell you I dont have this issue. When I tap it, it jumps. Sry I dont have any ideas for you to try though.

 

i mean i have a delay but it def isnt that bad.. its actually kinda responsive, but i do like the cable better. and weed i thought yours would be cable

 

That's not directly because its electronic throttle, its because of the torque management programmed into it. It's almost entirely the reason I got a superchips. With the new features on the 3865, the delay is gone.

Try not giving it as much throttle. If you give it too much and it goes into torque management you'll be waiting.

 

Not experiencing that problem here. 3 years in on a 5.7 truck, 4 years in on a 5.7 car. Was it always like this for you? Sounds dangerous accually, sometimes you dont have a second to get out of the way.

 

Maybe a PCM reboot or a reflash???

 

I've only had the truck for about 2mo. and yeah, it's always been like that. I also noticed that if I only push the throttle down a hair it won't do anything, push a little more and it jumps. You almost have to go 1/16 to 1/8 of the way down before you get anything. Maybe I've got a bad spot in the pedal(it's a potentiometer(sp) right?)

 

You are probably right on the money. Buy a (Fastman) TB an make the repair an upgrade...

 

^^umm, that would replace the TB but not the pot at the pedal...

 

I was thinking TPS and you are thinking APPS, I'm sure the APPS would be the cheaper of the two to replace first.
Update From the manual:

5.7L V-8
The Throttle Control Cable on the 5.7L V-8 engine
connects the accelerator pedal to the Accelerator
Pedal Position Sensor (APPS). A separate mechanical
cable is not routed to the throttle body.

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
DESCRIPTION
The 3-wire Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is
mounted on the throttle body and is connected to the
throttle blade shaft.
The 5.7L V-8 engine does not use a separate TPS
on the throttle body.
