Default HELP!!! K&N Install Problem

I have an '06 1500 4x4 4.7L. I bought a K&N FIPK to replace my stock system. I followed the directions to a "T". The "air temp sensor" connection cord that came off my old resonator does not fit to my new intake. The intake tube did not come with any pre-drilled holes. The directions wanted me to put the hole in the oppisite side which is obviously wrong. How important is this air temp sensor? Can I get an extension for the cord?
Any help or input would GREATLY be appreciated!

YES you need the air sensor in the tube or you'll pop a CEL.

Just crimp or better yet solder and shrink tube a couple extensions on...

dont waste your time crimping it or putting on a solderless connection.. Solder it!..
crimping and solderless connection can through off the reference voltage/ signal voltage coming from and going to the ecm.....
