Default Engine Light

I just but a 4.7 reman engine and I swapped over all sensors from the old engine to the new since the sensors were all working. Now all of a sudden I my check engine light came on and threw a code of p1391. But the engine is running perfect. Do think the problem is that pcm needs to relearn the ckp sensor setting since the sensor was swapped into a new engine and the engine may have a slight difference in readings. This is why this code has been triggered.

Or I have read that someone had this code and replaced both sensors and the dealer's could not find the problem. Then the dealers called them back and told them that harmonic balancer seared the key set which trigger the code p1391. I haven't revived the engine over 4000 yet to see what happens.

No you should recheck your sencors and get some electronics cleaner and canned air. Check for frayed or broken wires, plugs that may not be all the way plugged in and so on. pull all the connections and CLEAN THEM THOUROUGHLY. Make sure there is no corrosian in any of the contacts and check the ECU plugs the same and clean them. I'v replaced a number of engines and can tell you these sencors are extremely touchy, you should always buy new sencors when it calls for removing them.

PS. Untill your 100 percent sure your timimg isnt off, dont drive it, you can smash a valve as the ECU retards the timing for power

I don't think the timing is off, I just bought this engine has a reman.

I just went out and drove it again and tryed to see what happens when I floored it well at 3000 rpm's it stuttered and then takes off again.

When I put the vehicle into neutral and revived it up to 5000 rpm with no stutter. So it just happens when I am driving it in gear.

I just put a new Crankshaft position sensor (ckp) in and the engine quit doing it. The problem is fixed.
