Dodge Ram Transmission
I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 4.7 automatic. Recently it started making a strange noise when I am pushing my truck in the passing gear. I had the transmission fluid changed at about 60k and now have 118k on it.
Will getting the fluid make it all better?

what kind of noise are you actually getting, does it sound like an RC car? Also do you have bigger tires on it or stock size. As a general rule of thumb I never change the tranny fluid unless its burnt. I always keep the old fluid. As the trans wears in theres particles in the old fluid that help keep the trans running strong. When you put new fluid in the trans tends to whine and slip, just my observation
I sounds like a rubbing sounds (best I can describe it). About two years ago I did go from the P245 to the P265 but hasn't made a sound since. It started last week.
The fluid seems fine.....maybe I will just live with it until it makes it all the time!

I tried it again this morning. It does it when I am pushing the truck over 3500 RPM's only for a short period time until it shifts into gear. If I start off from a stop or if I am going 40 and push my truck, it does the same thing. If I don't push it, then it doesn't do it at all.

hmmmm, well with the driveshaft it would do it as you increased speed and it would not stop after the shift so that rules that out I guess. Unless someone else has a better idea (although it pains me to say this) take it to a transmission shop.
When you are pushing your truck and getting up above the 3500rpm mark, do you find the noise is only when the shift is taking place? Also does it kind of sound like a 'tick' and something like a whirling or air flow sound?
My truck and a buddies truck makes these noises but only durring the second it takes the transmission to shift in to the next gear.

I know....taking it to a transmission shop is the last thing I want to do!
Rookie1500 - yes. Only when I push it and right when that top gear is shifting in. It can last for a few seconds depending on how much its getting pushed. Its more like a whirling rubbing type sound....sorry its hard to describe. It happened last week....I drive the same roads and the same way. I have had the truck since the 20K mark....
