Default exhaust cut out

ok so in attempts to make my truck louder im gonna try to go with a cut out not an electiric one due to lakc of funds. I talked to my dad about it and he claimed to talk to a a guy saying it caused more back pressure i dont get it i think hes trying to find an excuse not to let me. the only way i could see it hurting is when its closed and the air flows into to out pipe and has no where to go will this cause to much back pressure? i know this is stupid but i got to let him seee from other sources

A cutout will not hurt your truck. Lots of the guys here and on other boards have them. They are nothing new and been around for years. Call Dave at DMH and get the cutout pipe for $30. Then go get the sawzall and cut your pipe and clamp it in place or take it to a shop and get it welded in place.

I dont know about the 4.7Ls but I have a 2005 5.7L and the 3" cutout is too large. The exhaust piping on my truck is 2.75" in diameter and there is no way to clamp it. I took it to a local exhaust shop and he just cut the down the middle of the cutout pipe, cut a hole in a 2.75" diameter exhaust pipe and welded the two together. It wasnt as easy as I was expecting it to be.
