Anyone running Flowmasters on 4.7????
I'm running a 40series FM on my Ram and my 'Rango. They both sound great imo!
A lotta folks don't run FM because 1)what Hammer just posted....they, according to these studies, don't flow any better than stock
2)FM has a reputation of rusting out very quickly. I guess that depends on the climate/customer though, I've yet to have any problems after almost 2 years.
They do make a stainless system that would/should prevent the rusting. IMO, you would have to be NUTS to pay $480 for the kit, much less that not even being installed. I payed $125 for my 40series, just putting it in the stock location. $175 for the 'rango, including muffler, dual chrome tip, removing the resonator, adding extra pipe, re-routing it out the side, and welding everything up. Search a couple miles outside where you live, it'd be WELL worth it to drive an hour round-trip to save a couple hundred bucks, again, IMO....

Payed $150 to have them chop off my stock system from the cat's back install my Magnaflow Y-Pipe, re-route new tubing to the Delta 50FM (Stainless, so it would hopefully solve the RustMaster problem) then new tubing out the stock side location (Deleted the resonator).
After reading up on a few things and now adding to it, Hammer's post. I'm only keeping it on there for say another week or two so that my pops can hear it when he comes home (been over seas for a year) before I switch over to the long awaited AT3030XL I've been using as a paper weight.
As far as how it sounds, sounds like a good FM, with the infamous drone, in my case at 2000-2350 rpm range. With 4.56's in the rear it's from about 61-70mph after 70 the rpm is high enough to push through the drone, probably not good for it though, seeing it's more restrictive at higher volume.
Hope this helps. I'm sticking to single exits ^^ I'm tempted to even have the AT dumped right after, or over the axle to keep the exit hidden.

I got the at2525 (aero turbine) and had the exhaust shop just cut the old stock muffler off and replace it with this one. They also made me a new y pipe and now my truck sounds awsome. U can hear it on youtube if u search my name (johnsn10) there is a before and after exhaust video or at the end of the roll pan install (video 2 of 2) video
I got my flowmaster 40 duel kit off ebay for 206.00 and free shipping. Had everything I needed including the tips. Took me two hours to put on myself. It sounds good but I wish I'd went with the 50's. It's a little to loud for me.
I bought Super 44's and had them on for almost a week...Was not the sound i was looking for at all....I wanted something more aggressive...So I went back and had them changed to Cherrybomb Extreme mufflers and i'm seriously tickled ****less everytime i get in that truck and drive. It also sets off car alarms while idling...But if you add me on facebook and click on videos i have one of me taking off in my truck. http://www.facebook.com/#!/travis.baldwin1
I had the fm 44 dualed out on my 06 4.7 and it sounded awsome cost me 300 installed with chrome tips, on my 02 I have the 40 series fm dumped and its awsome as well, I would say the 44 is a little louder, but no recognizable (sp?) Performance gain/loss between the two... not one problem or issue with fm, stand by them for life...hope I helped
Thanks for all the input guys!
Found the previously listed system for about 380 shipped. Going home in a few weeks so I am going to have it shipped there. My brother and I are going to install it in his shop so no extra costs there.
On the topic of my brother ( a master mechanic ) and flowmasters. He has an 02 5.9. He says that he has a flowmaster system on his ( not stainless ). He says that the system he is running was off his buddies truck where it had already been used for about 2 years. He has had it on his for about 6 years and loves it. When I asked him about the complaints of Flowmasters rusting out, he started laughing. He lives in Maine where there is salt on the roads 6-8 months out the year. He regularly drives in heavy deep snow. He said his truck body is rusting to peices but not a single spot of rust on the exhuast. He then made the comment that his truck is going to fall to peices long before the exhaust ever rusts....

Not only YouTube for sound samples, but Flowmaster has a ton of sound samples. Our 4.7, with Flowmaster's, sounds pretty similar to a mustang sound. Only not as hollow sounding. Good luck, n stick with the 40 series. Or, if ur during enough, go with. A Flowmaster 10 series. As I'm about to do.
