A transponder key system means the engine computer is supposed to refuse to run without the key present. The transponder should NOT simply interrupt the starter signal wire. If that is indeed the case, they're really wasting their money on this system. I shouldn't have to install an alarm w/ starter kill on a truck with such a fancy stock setup.
Try to start my Subaru without the key. The starter will turn all day but the ECU won't fire a single spark no matter what wires you connect at the lock cylinder.

Sorry to hear about the truck. I do remember my insurance company telling me Dodge RAMs have a high theft rate, hence the reason my insurance was higher.

No kidding. Also makes me wonder why I had to pony up $50 for a transponder bypass kit for my viper remote start.
