Been a bit busy lately and putting the truck to good use....*PICS*
Sorry I haven't posted much in the past week or 2, but between Final exams for school and my cousins lot that needed to be cleared out, I have been one busy bee. Atleast i have done one thing right....Use my truck for what it should be used for. Only problem is I coulda used a winch a few times or for that matter a pair of towhooks on the front to pull apart some giant logs that were stacked on one another. Instead, I had to use my muscles and a few leverage sticks to move them. I shoulda taken pics of the pile of logs I was working with. (It took 9 trailers and almost a week to clear them all out)
Fully loaded in log form, there was roughly 5-7,000lbs depending on the wood. I have already filled the side by the garage with 6cords and the concrete pad on the other side that used to be part of a shed...I have 4.5cords there. I estimate about 25cords total all said and done.
FYI...That wood pile is 6ft high, runs 45ft across and is 6ft deep. That's all in log form and is still what I have left after the 10.5cord I already worked on(there were 2 more 3/4 rows from what the pics show). So, with the freebie 30yr old log splitter my stepfather let me borrow, it takes me ~3hrs or so to split 1.125cord throw it on the trailer, and then another hour unloading the trailer stacking it. Lots of work no doubt and some hard work to say the least. My body has become immune to the soarness already...lol Some of those logs are huge and heavy and they weren't easy to throw up on a 6ft high stack to make the room for it all.
Here are some pics.

I love my airbags. I filled them up with 30lbs and they never complained at all. Ride quality was fabulous and I know I had my trailer overloaded once or twice for sure. Those tires were tucked and almost rubbing on a few trips. Good thing i only had to travel 5miles back-forth from the lot to my house.
I also had a chance to check out the SC trans tuning while pulling a number of varying weight loads. I was suprised to see how the weight didn't effect the shifting much at all. I only found one area right around the 30mph mark where shifting was slightly irratic which happened with no weight as well, but everywhere else was great. If you were wondering, I kept the same performance tune while towing. I did not use the towing tune. Truck ran much better than the Diablo tune, thats for sure.

my dad has over a 100 acres, and me and him both have wood fireplaces we use during the winter... so i do that about 3-4 months a year, yes its a pain in the @ss, but truck looks good dude, dont it feel good to use a truck for stuff like that
Yeah, that's a crap load of wood. I use to work for a tree service, and split wood for cash at night. Are you selling that, or is it all for personal use? You could make some pretty good money if you just put an add in craigs list, and do self pickup and self load. What kind of airbags do you have? I'm looking at getting some as well.
Gotta let it season for a few months. I split it small enough and cover the stacks so it all dries fairly quick.
Silver, thanks. It's one of the few mods I look at more than I use..lol

Been there, done that!!! Used to have a wood burning stove in NY that my old man piped to the vents throughout the house.
When I lived in northern Georgia I had a buck stove insert in my fireplace in the great room and I had 4.5 acres wooded at the back of my property. Went 5 years in that house and only cranked the heat on first thing in the morning and never had to go off my property for wood.
I used to be **** and anytime my wood pile along my back fence got smaller than 20' x 4' high, I was back cutting timber to let dry out.
I welded up a gorgeous holder for my firewood I kept on my back deck behind my great room out of a couple giant barrel bands I got from the local muscadine grape winery, but unfortunately any pics disappeared when the former Mrs. Hammer took all the photo albums...
