Default Trying my luck with Ebay CAI **UPDATED With Pics***

well, after all my research and reading all the posts i could plus in the thread CAI poll, I've decided to try this first. Well wish me luck and I'll report back here with pics and my opinon. My only concern that I can see is I noticed what looks like a IAT sensor in the stock plastic air resonator at the throttle body, the one that says Hemi on it....well we shall see.....for $36.99 its gotta be worth a shot.

here is what i ordered.

I've been thinking of going this route too, or maybe building my own. Let us know how it goes when you get it

A guy I work with has one of those on his truck. Seems to work just as well as anything else.

For that price it's worth a try. Might want to replace the filter with a K&N though. @ $37 I wouldn't think that's gonna be the best filter. Maybe though.

Ebay ones can be hit and miss, seen some real good ones, but I've built three in the last four months for people with ebay ones that broke and one from Air Ram. Very thin, cheap PVC or in most cases, cheap hardware that breaks from road vibrations.

If you build one yourself, you can use schedule 40 PVC (very thick), and use hardware that is strong enough not to crack from vibration...

The only other thing I would worry about is how low that filter sits. I'd just be concerned about water being drawn in too easily. But hey, for the price give it a shot.

That's the trade-off you gotta weigh before buying (or building) one. Obviously the lower and more "outside" the engine bay you draw your air from, the colder the air you are gonna draw. Street only 4x2 owners can get a lot cooler air than a 4x4 owner who will go off pavement in water and mud.

I have to keep mine up high and with some protection from splashing water at the sacrifice of cooler air. Been hog huntin' in some pretty sloppy stuff at times...

I think when we did my cai we got a pretty blend of both worlds with the air coming in from the side and fresh air coming from the intake on the factory box as well as pretty good protection from the elements. Yes, there are trade off's though.

pretty straight forward install, only needed one wrench and a flat blade screwdriver. Did it in my parking garage in about 30min. need to find a better coupler for the crank case vent hose but it'll work for now. sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, but you should get the idea!
