tow/haul just affects shift points and locks 5th gear out, you can use it if you want i dont see it hurting it
i pulled some small trees out last month and just used 4H with tow/haul on and it was really easy 4L might be over kill

Yeah, 4-lo isn't needed. If they are that bad where you would need 4-lo, then you prob shouldn't be pulling them out.

I have never used anything but 4-hi to pull stuff like that out. I guess you could try both and see what happens, but as far as tow/haul mode. 4-lo isn't meant for anything higher than like 20mph, so tow/haul would be uselesss.

another thing...I wouldn't reccomend using 4-lo to pull stumps or bush roots out going forwards. That stuff is suppose to be done going in reverse using the front tow hooks. Reverse gear is Much stronger than 1st gear going forward for that type os stuf...fyi..

won't tow/haul give you a smoother take off/pull, i find it also limits my wheel spin with loads if i give'r to much gas

No. Tow/haul locks out 5th and raises the shift points. That's all it does.
Limiting your wheel spin is a job for traction control which these trucks don't have.
There are no special tow/haul bands that aid in smoother engagement or help allow slippage when your tires slip. I think you've been letting your imagination run wild and is another reason why the butt dyno is very inneffective!

The 4 low shift schedule completely over rides the tow/haul schedule in the tcm.

Reverse is always a lower gear than first in every vehicle.
