i figured i would give an update on this stuff for you guys...

well i did my whole front end in plasti dip, the grill and bumper and rear bumper as well.. Worked great, looked great, then went trail riddin and mudden.... Ok well first that stuff tears really easy, a few branches scrape up against it ur done, time top peel off and do it again.... second once u get mud on it, its take about 2 hours to clean, evidently the mud stains it or something and is hard as hell to get off.... So plasti dip is great for people who has it on their trucks for daily drivers and wat not, but if u do any off roading if its huntin or anything like that, i wouldnt recommend it.... i am peelin all mine off and completely painting everything black so i dont have to worry about it.... Again i am not saying dont do it, becuz its great stuff just not for what i use my truck for...

 

That sucks dude. From what I saw, it looked like it would/could be good stuff, but like you said, if anyone does any rootin, and it doesn't hold up, might as well not waste their time...

Just like paint, it depends on how you prep, I think. I did the rear step pad on my Grand Cherokee with it and only cleaned it prior to application. Just the plastic bottom of my golf bag scraped against it while putting it in the back a couple days later and it took a gouge about the width of a pencil and 3" long right out of it.

Now I did my rock rails and front grill and prepped them real well with an adhesion promoter and it seems to be staying on just fine, and I know I've nicked the rock rails a couple of times, but it seems to be holding.

I did the same with the front light bar I made for the GC, sprayed the steel with adhesion promoter first and I debated using a primer and giving it a couple sanded coats prior to the Plasti-Dip. I didn't as I didn't have any and was too lazy to go to the auto parts store so we'll see how that holds up, cause I know I'm gonna scrape it sooner or later, is on the front of the Jeep AND I'll be handling it often when pulling it off when I put the winch on...

 

im pretty sure it depends on how you prep it. i know a guy on dt had his front bumper done and then it was in a wreck and smashed. not one scratch on the plasti dip...

i will take some pics, it looks like u took a knife and just cut it and its kinda hangin there.... i did everything require to slap it on but did nt add adhesion before i applied the plasti dip and if u get on knick in it u gotta peel it off before u can replay it or it looks like crap... but i am just gonna get some professional paint primer it all and paint it that away so i dont have to worry about it again,
