That was exactly my problem. Had a Cherry Bomb Vortex put in(SI/DO) and took out both the resonators (one before and after) . Drove it around for a bit and the wife and neighbors complained about the 5:30 a.m. start ups (leaving for work). Had thankfully kept the stock exhaust system and had them put the pre-muffler resonator back in. Man what a difference. Absolutely love it now and the wifey is happy. Its more of a growl than a roar now.

Anybody that is suggesting Dynamat obviously hasnt done any research. Done use dynamat. Its WAY overpriced, and no where near the best stuff on the market.

If you're gonna go the sound deadening route, the two best companies are Second Skin Audio and RaamAudio. this is coming from independent testers and avid audiophiles on audio specific forums. For the SS, use the damplifier pro then luxury liner pro. Its expensive, but not anywhere near what dynamat is and the quality is phenomenal. From RaamAudio, use BXT on your floor, and BXT II on your doors and back wall, then line with ensolite. Both the luxury liner pro and ensolite are closed cell foams (about 1/2" thick) and are designed to eliminate road noise and exhaust drone.

Although it will help a little, regular sound deadener (dynamat, raamaudio bxt, ssa damplifier, hushmat, edead, etc.) only reduce vibrations in the panels, not eliminate road noise. Your best bet is to use a good sound deadener along with a closed cell foam

edit: this is only if you wanna go this route. the cheapest way to make her happy is earplugs (for her as well as for you so you dont hear her yappin). if that doesnt work, just go back to stock.

I ran into this same problem when I installed my LT headers. The wife said I was making our kid deaf, and she was probably right. I ended up just switching out mufflers to a larger one. Took care of the problem real quick.

After seeing your post in the other thread I looked into RAAMaudio and it looks pretty decent. The only thing I have to say though about his problem is that what sound deadener does is wieghs down the metal making it harder to move and/ or viberate. so basically any product that adds weight will work to deaden sound. I think the way he should go is with maybe one layer of deadener but I agree with you after thinking about it, he needs closed foam for the road noise. Deadener is meant to work if you have subs making vibrations but his exhaust really isnt make vibrations as subs would so there is really no need to add the extra wieght, just needs the closed foam to trap noise and cancel it out.
