Driver Lock/Latch does not lock - Ram 1500
Most threads dealing with power locks deal with fail solenoids, which leave the door latch in the locked position. In my case the lock goes up and down with the power lock switch, but it can be opened with either door handle. All the other locks work correctly.
If I remove the power/control connector to the lock mechanism, the mechanical operations with a key still does not have the lock remained locked.
So I guess the solenoid and motor are good the mechanical function must be broke. IS the P/N 55372851-AA and replace the whole unit. Or is there another trick to try?
Where is a good online store to procure the power lock driver side unit?
Cheers

Well if the lock pin moves up and down with the electric switch and keyfob it must be working. I would pull the door skin off and check the connecting rods from the handles to the actuator and see where the issue is from there.
I pulled the unit out, moved the locking mechanism with power and without. And while in the door all rods were connected. the lock arm just won't stay down. Just a slight tug on the handle and the lock releases.
any suggestions as to where to buy a new one.
cheers

Folks:
After getting a new lock from Mopar (thanks weedahoe), I accidentally dropped my original lock. Upon observation I noticed a slight glint in the lock "slot"; see pictures. A small piece of glass, probably from a smashed window 5 years ago, got into the lock and wedged it’s self in the lock between the rivet and latch. And just recently lodged it's self, just out of sight to impede the actual locking mechanism. Now we know the rest of the story. Thanks for the help.
