Default Wiring Question

I need a ignition only power source.

The left cig lighter is only on when the truck is on. The right power outlet is constant.

How can I remove the cig lighter to tap the power source.

I need it for a light on the Air Compressor gauge in the truck.

You need to pull the whole bezel off to acess the backside. I don't think it will pull through due to clips holding it on.

If you twist and pull it should just pop out. I used the cigar lighter wiring to power my e-cutout.

I located my air compressor command module next to my ebrake. Is there a power source in this area I can tap?

Thanks

You need to invest in a cheap meter or test light. There are lots of wires you can tap or even run from the battery through the firewall right there to that area.

Under the steering wheel, behind the knee bolster is a four-wire harness. Often not used, it has a lime green/black stripe wire. That is a switched hot, but why not tap the instrument panel lights? There's a wire above the lighter (brown & black, I think), which is the ashtray lamp wire.

I'm with 'Weed. Invest in a cheap $10 meter at Radio Shack... I've used mine for e-fan install, cab light install, off-road light install, etc...

Actually, I find a test light better than a meter for this type of hunting. Just get one that has a really small and sharp point. And if you "poke" any wires outside the cab, Id put a dab of silicone on the hole.
