Default kinda pissed

I was installing my dick cepek lights, and they were kinda cheap material. I bought more sturdy ones from O rileys.

But this wasn't the thing that made me start a thread.

I was tightening the bolt and it rounded out the light housing. And I know, I didn't tighten it too tight. It is still floopy and loose.

So now I have to figure out how to get the damn thing off my truck. I am prob gonna torch it. Any one want one light?

the head bolt on them light sucks i know , you have to line them up with the housing to get them to tighten . Hammer said them dicks would be cool so i ordered them . they have worked out so far but the housing is spotting with rust . I knew they were to good of a price to be true .

Yep, I have to keep flitz on mine or they show water spots like crazy after a rain or washing. You have to have that bolt in line with the hole or you'll strip it. I got a buddy with the Hella Optilux 1900s who stripped a bolt installing his.

I believe the Cepeks, Hella Optilux 1900 and KC Dayliter 1237 are all the exact same light made by the same company in China. I checked out the KCs at a vendor at the flea market a couple weeks ago and they were identical as well, right down to the same bulb and exact same rubber "bumper" on the bolt.

Awesome light output, but they did cheap out on the hardware. I also have to keep the plastic covers waxed as the red is already starting to get pink. My buddy with the Hellas has black covers that are now a light shade of gray.

Good for the $44 bucks they cost per pair, but definitely not real high quality.

You win some, lose some on ebay. I'm not displeased, but if I'da paid the $110 each that KC gets for them, I'd be pissed!!!

Oh and side note, my Hella 500s which were on my truck a whole five weeks, and are now on my Jeep, has the black plastic housing bleached already. At least with those, you can't really see the back unless you look for it. Armor All kinda helped a little, but within a couple days in the hot southern sun, they are right back faded. Anybody know of a product to get the black back better than Armor All?

I was hoping to avoid taking them off and disassembling them. But if I do, I'm gonna commit the cardinal sin and Plasti-Dip the housing. Mainly because I have some left over from doing the gray cladding and don't have any black paint...

I'm thinking LightForce lights next time:

Should have got them Hellas! LOL Those Black Magic ones are pretty sweet. I wish I would have bought them.

You could also get some PIAAs and pay out the a$$! No Way!

I like mine - they are pretty durable so far.....with the stock bulbs they lack a little but you can upgrade that.

I have Hellas, didn't like the look of the cheap black plastic outside of the truck. Fine for behind the grille and at 55 watts, they are no better than headlights.

These Cepeks are fine for the money, but I read a couple reviews online when I found these on ebay and every review raved them and they all mentioned that they were made by KC and branded Cepek, so I figured for $44 a pair for stainless 130 watt lights, how can you lose?

They are bright as sh*t, but the stainless shell is a bit on the thin side and the hardware could be of a little better than obvious chinese quality.

If I had to do it over again, I'd still buy them because of the price. But if I had to pay retail ($169.95 a pair) IMO there are a LOT better quality lights out there for that money...
