2004 1500 Hemi AC problems.

2004 1500 Hemi AC problems.
I have two AC issues that may be the same problem.
1. first problem is that the only AC mode that works are the upper passenger vent recirculate feature. The other selections are just blowing air through the vents, including the defrost feature, it also just blows air through the passenger vents, not the dash defrost vents. The four speed selction works fine, and the temp control works fine.
2. People have been tellling me lately that my AC doesn't seem as cold as it should be. I have been dismissing them under the notion that this is a truck not a luxury car and that this is South Florida and it is very hot outside. I did go buy a digital thermometer and placed it in the vent to right of the steering wheel and would get temps as low as the high 30's. Well today I got the crazy idea of sticking the thermometer in a passenger side vent. I didn't even need it, it was obvious it was not blowing cold. The two driver side vents blow very cold, but the two passenger side vents are just blowing plain air. I'm sure that is why people have been complaining. Who knew?
So, has anyone had one or both of these problems, or have any suggestion?

My temps have been good for the last year but I have been un able to change the air flow from floor/vent/ and no defrost. Today I failed inspection, (although passed last year with same issue) so I came home and did some research and started ripping the dash apart. My best advise is to watch a you tube video (3 parts) put out by heatertreater about the problems with the vent systems. They also have a site heatertreater.net which you can access video. What it boils down to, as far as flow, is a crap plastic desigh that fails quickly and dealers that claim the entire dash has to be taken out to fix. At a expense ov around $1000 I can't affort that. Anyway, if it's under warrant use it. . the flow doors all break, plastic crap. I managed to remove the recirc flap and mode one flaps , per video and I now have air to defrost only so I can get stickers. All flaps discussed were broke on my truck and from what I've read it's not uncommon. No wonder people buy toyota
