First time AC issue, found the problem
I thought I would share this in case it happens to others.
My AC was not cooling right the other day while driving slowly around my job site. It felt like it was trying to cool then stop then again and again. I popped the hood and the lines were barely cool. As I was observing the AC compressor I noticed it was short cycling. I next checked out the AC electric fan next to the radiator and noticed it was not running. I stuck my finger down and spun the fan and it started running continuously as it always does. The compressor started longer cycles and the lines got cold.
It's working now and I'm betting there is a dead spot in my fan and what was happening is a built in safety feature was short cycling the compressor as not to allow it to overheat. If I would have gone down the road at a higher speed the force of the wind would have started the fan.
Bottom line is if your AC is acting goofy and seems like it's not cooling at certain times, check and see if your fan is running when it seems hotter than normal. I hope this information is helpful to others with the same problem.
