Default Drivers side A-Pillar grab handle..

I'm 6 foot and weigh all of 190 lbs, and I have used my grab handle to get in almost everytime.. '05 QC hemi 4x4..

well it finally gave and pulled off in my hand the other night.

Is this a problem for anybody else ? I'm glad it didn't happen to my wife when she was pregnant a couple years ago.. I had to put step bars on so she could get in the truck because she is all of 5' tall.. grant it she is a lightweight, but if hers broke and she fell I would have gone crazy..

There isn't a rating on these things is there ? I drive the truck maybe 3 times a month, and I always forget its broken and rip it off repeatedly when I get in.. I will replace it soon.. is there a better mounting one other than the cheap plastic they use ?

/rant

Why are you not using the steering wheel instead of the handle? Thats what I use.

I dont have a spare drivers side so i cant help there but for you or anyone else looking, this may help if you want to that route

yep, mine broke when I was getting in after a day of dove hunting. turned to talk to someone as I was getting in and leaned back and POP!!! Landed on my a$$.

bought a new one with a gauge pod in it and put a tranny temp gauge in it. The price of the one with and without the pod was the same, so why not make a repair a mod, right?

Not many people I know whose had a 3rd Gen for a couple of years who hasn't broken the cheazy plastic POS yet. Now I do as 'Weed suggests and grab the steering wheel.

Well the transformer I've had for close to five years now, but the winch and mount I've only had a couple months. I think the mount came out real nice color matched! Price was REAL good, half a case of .223 ammo. Tough to beat that deal.

Ain't used the winch yet other than to unspool it and wind the cable on nice and tight, but it should get a workout this fall up at the farm. I've got a lot of trees I want to clear out so I can put up a couple deer stands and have some wide open shooting lanes.

It better not burn out, I'd hate to have to pull my old one off the Jeep and put it back on. What was the warranty you gave Pyro on it? Five years??? LOL...

BTW, you got any other stuff you can sell to Pyro so I can steal it off him?

LMAO!!!

It happened to me about a month ago. It appears that Dodge has a repair cap or the person that had the truck prior to me used a PVC cap and drilled a hole in the end, that slips over the back side of the pillar cover. (And I believe it should be glued on with a very strong adhesive material, mine wasn't but it is now), it is white and about 1" to 1 1/4" deep with a hole to insert the bolt through. The PVC is actually thicker than the original plastic but ultimately it is your choice and do what you believe is the safest option. It's less expensive than buying a new pillar cover, but be safe when making your decision, using the same material may cause it to happen again. Or as suggested in another post, after repairing or replacing the pillar cover, use the steering wheel when entering the vehicle. Best of luck.

the same thing happened to my passenger side one. my mom yanked it off getting in one day and almost fell. i was pissed!!! if she had gotten hurt i would have been calling my lawyer!!! it still comes off every now and then. i need to get around to replacing it. it spends more time in the back seat than it does on the pillar!
