Default Brake Problems

Well i've gone through two sets of new front rotors this week which both warped. both front rotors are warping because they are getting too hot. whats causing both of them to get to hot, i cant see both flex lines kinking or both calipers sticking. is the rear proportioning vavle bad? is the master cylinder bad? and the back rotors are not warped.

so your calipers are working fine? like piston is coming out evening and smoothly..and sliders are free? did this problem just start ? or did you do the brakes and this started to happen?

On a general note if your rotors are getting hot, your pads are making contact, do you ride the brake? I do alot of highway driving, and both the Dakota and Ram have the same issue with warping rotors. 1 set on the dakota and im ready for a set on the ram. I dont ride the brake, just something that tends to happen. Make sure your slides are clean and if your caliper was sticking, youd know it. Praportioning valve is a low fail item.

I commute 100+ miles a day of highway driving, i dont ride the brakes but there is a lot of stop and go traffic. i just dont understand why this all started happening now, i've owned the truck for a year and a half. i never had this problem with my dakota. the rotors i put on tuesday were already warped by wenesday

warped in one day? thats very odd.. sounds like either when you put the tire on and tighten it up the rotor wasnt set on right. or your calipers are shot and the pistons are not retracting.. how does your pads look?

pads look fine. i put the original rotors back on (the ones that were replaced on tuesday) and took it out for a drive. i still havent gone on the highway yet. but i took a laser thermometer and checked the temp of the rotors the backs were roughly 200 and the driver front was 410 and the passenger front was 360. shouldn't the front be roughly the same temp?

maybe not the same but closer then that... When you brake does your truck tend to pull to the drivers side?

check out your calipers... sounds like they're sticking. and if the rotors are warped.. they gotta go.. and if they're that warped.. the pads are going to be shot as well---they'll be glazed over (all shinny)
