Default Slow shifting into gear...

, but only after the truck has been sitting over night. I did a search, and it sounds like it is a fairly common occurrence with some trucks, but causes no real harm. Am I right on this? What exactly is causing it? Should I have it fixed?

If it sits for a few hours or so there is no issue. But, when I leave in the morning after it sits for a night, it takes nearly 5 or 6 seconds before it slowly slips into gear... forward or reverse. Other than that it shifts great and acts normal.

Thanks in advance fellas!

There is a TSB out there for this issue I believe, it is a transmission filter issue. I was experiencing the same problem and the truck would stall at times after startup. I replaced dropped the transmission pan, replaced the filters and transmission fluid and havent had a problem since. That was two years ago.

Mine shifts just fine after the first initial "take off" from sitting overnight.

Thats basically what I had read when I was searching about it. I'm just wondering if it causes any real harm and what the cure may be (if it even needs to be cured). It seams to me, that if not every truck is doing it, than the ones that are most likley are not supposed to be. IDK

Thanks for the replies guys!

This is a previous post that includes a TSB description. I dont think it will cause any harm, but I would fix it.

Yeah, the previous owner had it into the dealer cause he was worried about it. They inspected it, changed the fluid/filter and said it was good to go... "its just a common thing with these tranny's". Dip****s.

So yeah, the fluid/filter have been changed and it is still doing it.

Thanks for the link to that bulletin, jbrowder. After reading all the mumbojumbo, it sounds to me like there is an issue with the filter after the tranny cooler? Hmmmm, I will have to do some more research on this.

Thanks for all the replies fellas!
