You can take it a bunch of different ways and I don't really think one is any better than another, or enough to matter more than a fraction of a HP.

Make a shield, or route it a little farther from the heat of the engine and angle it down towards where the cool air comes in from the wheel well.

Drill a second hole for the crankcase breather or put a small $7 filter on it.

The nice thing about this mod is you can make it yourself, get a little creative and add a personal touch. You'll get a nice sense of pride when you make your own mods. Johnny obviously likes his, he's posted more pics of it on here than all other pics combined, LOL...

Best mod that I have come across for a MPG increase is the e-fan. For improved throttle response you could look at a ported throttle body. I found that it adds a nice little pep to the throttle response. Also, you can get some good mileage out of an 04 Ram QC if you get some mods on it. Check out this vid I made yesterday of the mpg's I am getting.

There are lots of threads on efan and how to's on them. Most guys use fans from Taurus cars and get a controller from an auto parts store.

My taurus fan was about 25 and my controller was 40

With these pics, what do I take off? Just the tube and filter box or do I take off the entire assembly? The 5.7 HEMI logo box also? Your intakes look like there is no logo box but my does.?
