Default Leveling a 2wd

I have an '04 2wd 5.7 and looking to put 2" coil spacers on to level it out. Am I gonna need to replace the factory shocks? I'm looking for the most economic way to do this so if anyone has any other suggestions they would be appreciated. Thanks

It is highly recommended by most that you replace the shocks when adding a 2"+ coil spring spacer. I put a 2.5" one on mine and shocks for a 2500 and it is working out nicely.

as far as im aware people do this and retain their oem shocks. ive raised my front 3" (4x4) and am runnin oems. i dont think 2" is enough to require longer shocks. unless you got the beans
of course i could just be talking out of my *** cause i dont have a 4x2

Just did this on my '04 2500 4x2 this past weekend. I purchased the 2" spacer and shock kit from Fat Bob's Garage. I did not try it but I really don't think the stock shocks would have been long enough to bolt in with the added 2" but like I said I didn't try it since I ordered the shocks in the first place.

The 2" spacer and shock kit is only $149.85 and I love it.

Fowlplay,
I believe I have read that the 2500 shock is 2" longer. You might be able to compare the shocks at a auto parts store to see if it is what you want or not.
Man, I've got to ask you about that name "fowlplay" sounds kinky brother....

Just having fun.......

yes, 2wd 2500 shocks are 2" longer and WILL fit onto your 2wd 1500. on my 2500 i have a 2.5" spacer, and bilstein shocks that are OEM length. if i hit a pothole going fast enough, or a bump hard enough, the shocks will top out. but thats if im driving like a jackass.

I used the shocks from a mega cab, those are 2 inches longer.. Note, the oem shocks were fully extended with o travel.

You definitely need longer shocks. As stated before you can get the 2500 ones and Rough Country makes a decent longer shock at a reasonable price. I think I found mine on special. For the pair I paid 60 bucks.

I did this same thing about two years ago. Still have the OEM shocks (now at 105K).
