Default Oil Changed

Well....I just bought my 2005 5.7L Dodge Ram 4x4 about 3.5 months ago and I just changed the oil in it for the first time since I have owned it. Not really a bad setup to honest...taking the oil filter off was a breeze as well as the oil pan being in a nice convenient place. Only thing that is kinda odd is the oil cap is all the way up near the firewall of the truck. Im used to them being closer to the radiator and what not...(note: before this truck I owned a GMC Envoy, worst mistake I have ever made). I love this truck and I plan on doing some cosmetic things to it to add some character to her. So I wanted to ask you guys what kind of wheels and tires would fit this truck nicel withouut having to lift it dramatically. Would it make sense to level out the rear end before purchasing new tires and wheels? Lets hear it!

I have 17x9 xd addicts with the plastic bolts removed on 305/70/17 tires which are 34" tall. All you need is to crank your torsion bars to lift the front 2" and they will fit no problem with no rub. Its a free lift but you will need 2" longer shocks. My wheels and tires were under $2k. that is the off road look but if you want the street look then I would lower the back with drop shackles and throw some 22's on there or even 24's.

That blue color would like nice with a set of 07 20s and some better rubber. Level the rear and tint the windows.

07 20's are a good choice. That is a nice looking wheel and allows you to keep a stock look.

I'm a strong supporter of 17" wheels. The tires can have a lot of meat on them, there's almost no risk of curb rash due to taller sidewalls. Plus, I believe the ride is better. I just went from 265/70s to 285/70s on my DC-1 chrome (not a recommended wheel, BTW) 17x9s. Nice ride, better-than-acceptable handling (the RSB has a lot to do with that), and great grip.

DEFINITELY tint the windows - as dark as you can get by with. It looks like the truck has vent shades, but if not, they're a worthwhile expense. Congrats on the truck - that is absolutely my favorite color!

I'm sure it's no shock to anyone when I say I agree with Mikey 100% on the wheels. I am NO fan of 20s on a 4x4. NO sidewall for flex or flotation, towing capacity is greatly diminished, the wheels and tires cost a hell of a lot more and they weigh a lot more.

Crank the keys up about 1.5-2", stick you some nice Mickey Thompson or Dick Cepek 17" wheels on it (very good price and excellent strength to weight ratio), get a set of nice shocks and a nice set of 33" A/T tires and call it day!!!

Since the guy is talking about levelling the rear (AKA lowering it), I don't think he is looking for a big meaty tire. If he wanted to level the front, 17s without a doubt.
