How much damage....
....Will I do to my parking brake if I just keep pulling on the rotors, trying to get them off?
I have 97k on my '03 and have been hearing some godawful grinding in the rear end when I apply the brakes. I was thinking 2 hours tops, in and out, replace rotors (original) and pads and be done with it. After screwing with it for two and a half hours, using PB Blaster, a brake puller and rubber mallet/3lbs sledge, I still don't have the rotors off.
And will I do any damage to the other surrounding parts? Dust shield is the only thing I can think of. Axle shaft actually clears the rotor when I get nutty and try to pull it all the way off with the puller, so I'm not worried about that.
I have no problem putting a new parking brake on, but is there anything in that assembly that needs to stay and be reused if I go with new stuff?
Thanks for reading/answering.
