its possible your having problems with your pick-up coil as well (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,7176) ive had 2 5.9L's and a 5.2l and ive had to replace it on all of them, same symptoms as your having, but start with the plenum (http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...4&partid=22220)

Hughs Plentum in the mail as we speak. I'm going to change out everything. I'd like to put on some shorties & some Magnaflow the rest of the way back. I know they make a whole replacement from the manifolds back, but the only one I ever see is this one.

http://www.car-sound.com/02product/d...irectfit=23959
It shows 4 bungs & what appear to be 2 small cats or whatever they are. I'd like to have everything all new from the shorties back. I don't want to just cut in a new cat & try to tie in the shorties to the 8 year old factory garbage. Some help on what to get? I know I could just get it made up somewhere, but I'm sure it's a small fortune. Is this what I'd need? I only have 2 O2 sensors. The 49 state emissions.

My exploder leaks oil up in the intake belly as well from the lovely Ford PCV set-up. So, every now and again i gotta give it a good ole seafoam bath through the PCV valve and she's good for another oil change.
Not to say you have the same problem, if you have oil in your intake, it will def cause rich conditions and fouling so seafoaming it will "hold"off" the problem for the time being until more depositing occurs.

seafoaming wont help a plenum leak unless you fix it first

Just got it in the mail, but not sure of something. Isn't there a gasket that goes between the plate & the intake man? I just have a plate, & the intake gasket kit (2pcs). ???

Um, nevermind the gasket question. Just got off the phone w/ Hughes, & they've got one in the mail. Guess they had a bunch go out w/ no gaskets in the box. FYI incase it happens to anyone else!

Ohh, well a leak...Yeah def. I don't have a leak in the ferd, just lots of build-up from a poor azz 4.0L OHV choker of an engine.
