'02 1500 5.9L Plug Fouls Constant
I've been going through plugs like cazy since about 45k. Now I'm at 94k. I've replaced the cap & rotor, wires, & O2 sensors. Tried factory Champs, & others, only to keep burning them up. Injectors cleaned as well. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, but not a pro by any means. Everyone I've talked to that is a gear head has come up only with what I have tried in the past. Got to be someone on here with another idea. Dealership just has a bunch of parts changers that troubleshoot only to the bad parts, not why the parts go bad.
I have a 03 with the 5.9 gas and the same issue, I would like to hear the cause. I put plugs in it once a year usually #8 code misfire I think it might be that plenum thing but im too lazy to install it and too cheap to pay 700$ to let someone else do it....
ya its your plenum doing that, look down your throttle body for oil. if theres oil you have too replace your belly pan. do you use alot of oil ?? do you notice a performace loss, milage loss ?
your 02 2500 5.9 is actually a 2nd gen truck which has the common plenum gasket failure. come over to the 2nd gen forum for a million posts about plenum and the Hughes aluminum plate repair. it'll fix you right up.

Ok, Ill look into that. It has been different cylinders that I've had the misfire codes show over the years. Now here's my other question. What kind of damage other than the plugs burning up, could this have possibly caused over the years? Other than the plug codes, I'v ehad nothing else to complain about this truck. I'm the original owner, so if anything is jacked up, it's my fault! I'm going to try to look for a few threads, but if anyone knows of one, please post me a link! I'm on call this weekend & haven't had much time!
nah just fix your belly pan and you will be good to go and change our plugs after you do it and it would help to add a 180 t-stat

from the plugs fouling you might have took a toll on the cat also but this is all caused by the blown plenum gasket. Wait till you see your truck after the gasket is fixed. It's gonna feel so much better to drive
