what oil viscosity do u use in ur HEMI
just wondering............... what you use and why. i usually use mobil 1 full synthetic 15/50 in all my vehicles.........my hemi is due for its 2nd oil change. but not bringing it to the deal this time . i hat pepole touchin my stuff. rhino liner guy scrateched the bed and the dealer dinged the door
For 05 they changed it to 5/20. Some say it quiets the Hemi tick. That is also what the Magnum and the 300 use. Personally I'm gonna stick with the 04 recommendation of 5/30, especially when I work the motor. If I use 5/20 it would be a synthetic only. Your manual on the 05 prolly says its ok to run up to 10/30 depending on climate.
i havnt put 15/50 in my hemi its only due for its 2nd oil change. but i put 15/50 in all my other cars but them again there all stangs run warm so i figure go w/ the thick ****........ dealer dinged my door lat time was there(besides i dont like anyone touchin my stuff) for the mentioned reasons i always get my **** back broke or dinged ot w/ someting else wrong....... i definately usin mobil 1 though ful synthetic

I have been using 5w20 in my 04 as it is supposed to lessen the hemi tick....but I haven't really heard it on mine anyway. I have heard bad things about synthetic, so I am skeptical of going that route. Some say it lessens the engine life instead of extending it.....to each their own though, you can find a negative about anything if you look hard enough :-)
15w50 seems really thick....manufacturers have been going to lighter weight oil to increase fuel economy, but in doing so have decreased the orifaces where oil passes....using too thick an oil can cause the manufacturer to reject a warranty claim because the lubrication isn't as good as the 'recommended' viscosity.
Points to ponder.....

I go with what the manual says for my 05, 5W-20. If you look at the manual for 05 I am quite certain that it recommends 5W-20 for all temps....I can certainly be mistaken though. Always have and always will go with Mobil 1 throughout my vehicles.....engine, trans, transfer case, all of them get it and thats why I've had 300,000 on the odometer. IMHO of course
