Rare to see happen in a 2500, but it does happen. It's usually an issue with the 1500s due to the crappy stock LSD system used in them.

IMO, if you are gonna have to pay for it anyway, find a good shop who routinely does gear installs, get you a good set of aftermarket gears (Motive, Yukon, Precision, etc.) and have it done.

Also a good time to upgrade to 4.10s which would have been an optional upgrade on the truck. You probably had 3.73s and the 4.10s would give much better performance towing and make life on your transmission quite a bit easier...

The 2500's don't have an LSD at all?

yep, but a different animal and I've not heard of guys having a major problem with one, other than a few complaints that it's not the best working one out there...

LSD is optional on the 2500, not standard equipment, B/S on the dealership relling you the rear end needs replacment. Go to a indepandant garage or pull of the diff cover, replace with new fluid, thiers a possiblity the backlash needs to reset on the axle shafts, carrier bearings, water in the fluid ( 4x4 abuse ) kills transfer cases and rear ends, but you have a 2wd. Has the dealer got into the nuts and bolts of the rear end? or are they just bilndly expecting a blank check.

The dealership just drained the fluid and it had alot of metal shavings so they say its shot... Ima take it to another shop amd see what they think and if they say the same ima pull the pan myself and check it out... That dealership saidd it would be 2000 to 2500 for thwm to fix it. I dont understand that hell u can get a diff for bout 200.

Also i think the truck has a shift kit in it or already has 410s bc it will kick plum sideways when it hits second gear (its automatic)

Thanks for replies

Going rate is gonna be about $225 for the gears, $100 for the install kit and about $300 for the labor. The stealership is WAY out of line...
