I have the code from H--- yet another one
2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.7 HEMI
Well, I am back. Finally took care of the PO132 code (O2 sensor) replaced with OEM replacement. The aftermarket (Bosch) did not work. I thought all was fine - drove around for a few days - no code being thrown, no CEL on. So I go to my mechanic and wouldn't you know just as he is inspecting my truck my CEL goes off and I fail my inspection. The code was PO442 small EVAP leak detected. So he clears it and one day later no CEL. I have to go back today for a smoke test to help find the leak. Today June 30th is the last day for inspection, but I will most likely not bring it back until next week sometime. I know other people on this forum have had this problem. What did you guys or gals do for this PO442? What was your outcome?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sporty

I had the same code on my Silverado a few years back. Turned out to be the evap module or whatever they call it that was mounted to the top of the gas tank. It controls the flow so something inside was allowing leakeage. Not sure if the Rams have the same part(LDP??), but that freakin module went out 3 times on me in 4 years. I know they are diff manufacturers. Just trying to give you an idea of what it might be?

I had the same problem and found I had a cracked hose on top of the evap canister. I just used some electrical tape to tape up the crack and haven't had any codes since. That reminds me, I need to go buy a new hose! Anyways, HammerZ71 posted an evap system diagram in the FAQ that was a big help to me. Here's the link...

usually all the smaller 90 degree bent rubber hoses with tiny cracks in the rubber hoses are the culprits on the nvld or evap canister.
usually the larger leaks are loose hose clamps, abnormally big cracks in hoses, etc.

Yep I had the same code 2 days ago as a matter of fact... As previously said its that one prebent hose on the evap/charcoal thing under the truck about halfway back on the drivers side. My hose was split where it pushes over the fitting. I had enough there that i was able to trim the hose back and put it back on good as new.
