Than what halogen or 10000k? Both actually. The higher the kelvin temp you go, the less useable light ouput there is.
4100-4300k OEM Temp bulb puts out ~3200Lumens. (white in color)
5000k bulbs puts out ~2800Lumens.(pure white in color with hint of blue)
6000k bulb has ~2600lumens(light-med. blue)
8000k bulb has ~2400lumens(deep blue)
55w Halogen bulbs vary from 1100-1500lumens depending on the socket.

The actual color may vary from one manufacturer to the next just the same as light output. We are talking within ~200lumens and 2-3shades within reason of eachother.

ANY colored halogen bulb is gonna suck compared to HID.Period. Manufacturers can color the bulbs all they want, won't make a halogen bulb any more efficient than what they are. HID's are the way to go: however, installing HID's in stock Halogen housings tends to refract lots more light and could blind oncoming traffic. Few guys said they tilt the housings down a little bit and it makes things better for other drivers.
Installing anything over 6000k is asking for trouble with the cops. I know here in NY that's a ticket because we aren't allowed to have blue or red on the front of our vehicles. It's something that if your getting pulled over, you may get hassled for the lights along with whatever it is you got pulled over for. It just screams out...I am not stock and it's usually due to illegal lighting. I guess it's a chance just like window tint and how your local patrol feels about the situation.

im talking if you go with HID's . 6000k-8000k is the most usuable light.. the bluer the light the more wasted light.

COLOR / TEMPERATURE
Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the color temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a color temperature of approx 14,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Higher K kits such as 12,000k, 14000k, etc. have been manufactured for individuals that are more concerned about the actual color output of their lights as opposed to the actual useable light output. HID kits rated at 6000K or 8000K actually produces the best usable light output.

wow, I cannot believe someone has not posted this yet in the thread. Here is a List with pictures of the most common different temps of HIDs. Oh and ignore the advertising. Order either from HID Extra. Normaly Rams and HIDS do not like to get along with each other. The As long as you tell them the year of your ram and what color you want, Install could not be easier, Just had to put some new ones in last night.

^^^ problem with that is ALL manufacvturers are going to provide slightly diff outputs than the next. I can already see that the 6000k posted above has far less blue than wht is in real life. I'd say shift every single bulb color over to the left and that's what it actually is. So, the 8000k bulb pic should actually be under the 6000k color. I'm sure guys with the 8000k color would agree it has much more blue. The 5000k bulb pic looks like a stock 4300k color. BUT, it gives a general idea I suppose.

Partially correct. 4100k has the most useable light ouput at 3200lumens. ANything above or below that, the light ouput drops. ANY blue light is going to have less light ouput than the factory color of 4100-4300k.

So, generally speaking...3200k-5000k have the most useable light. Blue light is also very tough on the eyes of both the driver and oncoming traffic. It's known to cause fatigue. It's the way the human body percieves the light and processes it that the blue gives problems.

I drove a customers car from Florida to NYC and he had 8000k bulbs. I never had a worse headache ever..and I rarely ever get headaches, if I do, they never even warrant advil. I'm not saying it effects everyone the same, but it does/can cause issue's with extended driving.

If blue is what you are looking for 6000k would be the best light ouput for a blue color.

well what about adding this to the argument. Yes HIDs are way better for light output, but for plug and play features on rams. its the harder way to go. Ive got recon projectors in mine, and to be mounting ballasts, and resisters since its a ram, just to get some more light.

Id almost just take the 5600k xenons just for simplicity reason.

more light, and a more detailed install, or better light then stock bulbs, that plug and play.

not to mention 25 a bulb for xenon, or 100 a bulb set up for HIDs. I have HIDs on my bike. there awesome but install was a pain due to space issues

I sure dont i havent got around to doing that. The Horns are WOLO Siberean Express and i bought them from an ebay seller that sells for another company. I bought them fairly cheap. I think around $125 after shipping. Then i bought a cheap 1.5 gallon tank/compressor combo for like 80 bucks. I'm actually in the process of looking for a new 3 gallon tank and a good VIAIR compressor that will pump up to at least 200psi.
