Default Modification questions for all

First off, I'm thinking about covering my entire bed and the bed rails with diamond plate along with getting a diamond plate tool box and swapping the nerf bars and brush guard out with stainless instead of the powder coated black ones. Then I'm going to get those stainless trim pieces for the fenders and door jambs, do y'all think it'll look good?

I have a couple other questions too, what is the deal with so many people lowering their trucks in the 3rd gen world? I'm not too crazy about it, I say if you can't unbolt the transmission and slide it out without jacking the truck up then it's too low.

Then there's the deal with the blacked out Rams, when did everyone start hating on chrome and diamond plate?

Folks who don't need a 4wd truck are evolving to performance street trucks. One of the basic mods is often to lower them for high speed stability or just to look good. You know the saying, Different strokes for different folks....
Stainless is always good, but if it was me I would do a spray in liner. No need for all that wieght of the diamond plate. Good luck...

Ya I think a spray in with diamond plate rails would be more practical and essentially look the same. And times change but chrome and stainless is still what looks good to me. Lowered street trucks have been around for years of course but the 3rd gens look particularly good lowered I think, even though a lowered truck wouldn't work for me.

Personally I was simply flat out against lowering my truck because it was, well, a truck. And right away started looking at lifting it whether it be a simple level kit or a 4" spindle + rear blocks, but seeing I don't off-road and see quite a lot of highway, I've recently been leaning to level it out just by dropping the rear a tad bit. I guess I'll find out if i like it or not when I get the shackles.

As for your bedliner, +1 on the spray in liner then diamond plate rails, and SS bush guard/wheel well trim pieces.

I agree the spray in would be much more durable and usable, and I really like chrome it is a accent that will never get old. I have seen some people that go way to far with chrome, you have the right idea should look great. I am very happy with my truck and I have just leveled it maybe small lift someday but not much, I see alot of lowered trucks that look great just not for me. if you want low to the ground and high speed stability go buy a Corvette....LOL

I think lining your whole bed with diamondplate would be a bit of a challenge and blinding as all hell when the sun is out. I think it'll be too much.
I'd reccomendjust sticking with doing just the rails and the other 2 items.
Also, They do make stainless rails that would match stainless steps and brush guard. Then you could slap a diamond plate tool box over the top of some stainless bedrails and I think that would look just fine, but to completely break the front from the back with stainless up front and diamond plate in back seems like it would look odd??? I dunno, just saying.

Agree with Dog and others bout spray in plus diamond Tool Box, trim, SS rails etc, and that is coming from someone who has breen Jokingly refered to as "Diamondplate Dan" in the past. I can tell you from experience that the homemade Diamond plate items built from sheet-form is real hard to maintain unless you got shares in the SOS Pad Company. store bought stuff seems to have some type of durable clear coating that hold-up well when mounted high or away from stones. I'm sure it will look awesome and shiney.

I agree with the other guys, I would go with a spray in bed liner. Just for practical purposes. Diamond plate can get very slippery when it gets wet. So if you need to get into the bed in bad weather it would safer and more practical to have spray in liner.
Nothing at all wrong with chrome in my opinion. I agree with you I personally am not a fan of lowered trucks. But like they say "to each his own".
