Catalytic converter help?
I have a 2005 3.7L v6 ram 1500. A couple years ago I removed the catalytic converters and kept them off for about 6 months before I had to put some new ones on (Schultz). The new ones aren't stock cats and for the past year or so my check engine light has been on with the alert that one of the cats were bad.
I have to get an emissions test here in Arizona. Is it possible the O2 sensors are bad and thats why I'm getting the alert? And if both of my cats were bad, wouldn't there be an alert for each of them, not just one?
Thanks guys!!!

Its probably just a bad O2 sensor. What exactly is the code? I had one a while back that had went bad. The code that popped up on the code scanner meant catalyst effieciency is low. It ended up being my driver side downstream (after the cat) sensor. I replaced it, reset my computer, and it hasnt came on since.
I get the same P0420 on and off,it is more frequent in the winter time though. I replaced both O2 sensors about 5 months ago and the check engine will come on every once and a while but I buy a container of fuel injector cabuerator cleaner and after about three cold start ups it goes away for about three months again,I think it has something to do with the ethanol in the fuel at different gas stations we use thats why the light comes back on. Here is the link to the best price O2 sensors if your interestes. http://www.ngk.com/default.asp
