Battery Isolator?
I used the search and it did not quite get me the answer i was looking for...
I also thought about putting this in the audio visual section but i was not quite sure...
Basically im, putting in a new sound system into my truck. I have a shruiken 60 A/h battery, that i have put in the storage compartment in the console (yes it fits, but just barely) I'm designing it so that all my misc stuff, as well as my amps and 12V constant to the deck are running off that battery. I have an isolator, and i am using a separate relay tied into a 12V ACC source (cig lighter) to give me my ACC circuit using the alternate battery. I have pulled the 12V IGN source off my heated seat controls to activate the isolator. Both sources go off when the truck starts, and back on again when the truck is started.
Now an installer was talking about different voltage levels on these dodge trucks, now my question is will this setup that i have work? without messing with the charging circuit or even the computer? It seems to be working, as I get power where needed and no power where and when I don't. I just don't want to be back-feeding or have any irregular voltage running to different parts of the truck...

i have a question man--kind of "Safety" related... what is a 60 A/h battery battery? is it like a regular battery?
i wouldnt suggest having this inside your cab. When you charge a battery it emits hydrogen.----something you dont want inside your cab.
If possible mount it under your hood somewheres or even on your frame rail underneath

thats what i thought too...my installer is a professional, so i know he knows what he is doing, but as an electrician i could not see what the problem is. The relay will not click unless there is 12Vs on it, so i could not see any backfeeding...but just thought i would check, i go back to finish it up in a couple days so i will see what he says about it. It seems to work for me
