runs fine, then stalls
on my way home this morning i hit a red light, and when i went to go i noticed the truck had stalled. i hit the next red light and it did it again. both times it restarted fine, and no prior warning of this problem. the truck runs fine otherwise. the idle just slowly goes down (smoothly) until it stalls. does anyone have the slightest clue as to what the problem is? im at a complete loss.
There are a few of us (both Hemi and 4.7) that have experienced this and similar problems. Check out my post on page 2 - Stalling due to low idle - Update. So far, the dealership nor anyone else I have talked to has been able to find the solution. The dealership is having a hard time reproducing the problem..so they don't want to really hunt to find it.
The two most common things I've seen on the board is the all elecronic throttle and throttle body oing haywire and a bad torque converter with the first being the most common. Have them look into it and make sure it is documented incase, God forbid, it cause an accident. Knock on wood and all that good stuff.
I had the same thing happen on my 05 Hemi. Stopped at a red light it stalled. And one time backing out of a parking space. I started using 89 octane gas it did not do it again. So just to see if it was the gas I went back to 87 octane for three weeks and it did not do it until I ran No Name Gas. By the way anyone get better mileage with Gulf gas. There are five people in work here and we use Gulf Gas. we all seem to get better mileage than with others.
