Default Cracked steering knuckle

Hi everyone I was wondering if its possible to weld on a steering knuckle? I have an '03 Ram 4x4 with 4.7L and an automatic trans. My dad was attempting to seat the upper ball joint by screwing the bolt tight and tightened it a little much until it cracked the steering knuckle where the top ball joint mount is. Can this be welded? Also, if not, can someone point me in the direction of some aftermarket ones or possibly used ones? I have not been able to find any anywhere online. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would highly sugguest not welding it, if the welds were to fail you could be facing a hell of a problem

03 1500 4wd spindle part numbers

right side is 52106552AC - $242.50
left side is 52106553AC - $233.75

The good news is all my part catalogs show the same P/N's for all 1500 4wd spindles from 02-08 so you should easily find one in a salvage yard.

Those prices listed above are from http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=215363

You CAN NOT weld on a cast aluminum steering knuckle. No welder that actually he knows what he is doing will try.

Thanks for the help guys! Do I need to replace both or will replacing only the damaged side be enough? I know for some parts its just best to replace both sides and am not sure on this specific piece. I'd rather only replace 1 if I can get away with it but if I need both I need both.

Thanks again for the help you all rock!

You only need to replace one side as long as your other side is ok. What i would like to know is are the 2wd spindle the same as the 4wd because they look identical. The CV spline goes through the spindle and into the wheel bearing hub anyway right? Ive got a pair of my OEM 2wd spindles sitting under the carport at home collecting dust.
