PCM swap question
Ha Ha I'm sure you are joking. They can't even answer the questions on their own forum.....
Ive got two simple threads over there now and no one from Diablo and really chimed in. I think its just that if they do not know then they dont bother to give any input at all.
I have called them 2x and although I did get to speak with them, they still havent helped. They referred me to the forums and I told them i had been over it so he took down my info and said he would look into it and call me back. I really wasnt looking for a call back because i didnt believe he would call and as of today, no one has called.
I said earlier I couldnt find any pin outputs or connector views on the TCM. Then last night after going over things in the service manuals and AllData, i remembered the TCM is a part of the PCM. ~~DOH~~
Ive got to go over all the electrical schematics today when i get a chance and then i will know for sure where this stands.
If Diablo has TCM support for the 05 but not the 04 but yet the hardware of the PCMs are the same, then it must be software on them that makes them different.

I think MikeL and MikeM are good for basic things but every time I have needed something answered it is over their heads. Last time i needed to know what protocol language the PCMs for certain years ran off of and never got an answer then either.
[EDIT] However I did find the answer to my question on the protocol but it wasnt through them. i thought if anyone would know it would be a tuning company but neither Mike at Diablo knew which leads me to believe they handle the small and simple things.

Thats another reason why Im trying to go through the schematics
[EDIT]
There are more schematics on the PCM side of the 04 PCM in the 8w-30-x category than there are the 05 PCM
However there are less TCM schematics in the 04 PCM in the 8w-31-x category than there are the 05 TCM/PCM
Time to compare
But you can take an 05 HEMI and drop it in an 04 or take an 04 HEMI and put it in an 05, what would you be gaining or losing?
Also, the same question applies to if you were to buy a 545rfe from an 05 and put it in an 04 or say you get one from an 04 and put it in an 05. What would you be gaining or losing?

I don't believe the engine is of issue if using your 04 harness or possibly an 05 that may have a few more connectors? I don't know. I did notice that the 04 showed only 1 knock sensor while the 05 showed 2. It very well could be missed data from their part, but it's hard to tell unless there is an '05 guy willing to count his pinouts for ya? Bit of a stretch, but could work if you get hands on to compare.
And thats what i was thinking also Dirty. I was going to pull the connectors off my PCM and count the pins and see how many i have and on what connector (1-4).
Mine being an 04 shows less pin usage than that of the 05. I can get my hands on an 05 PCM/ABS/IPM and probably the gauge cluster also (no engine harness though ::frown:: ) but in the end my Q is will I have any left over plugs and if so will they be detrimentally important.
This is looking like one of those "drop money into while turning your head the other direction" projects.

Ok, well I have been having some issues with my Trinity and Innovate LC1 and posting about it on Diablos forums. Per thier request I took my Trinity out an hooked it to the PC and uploaded some info to them. In doing so I was notified an new incremental crom update was available as of 7-1-10 so i went out and restore my OEM tune to the truck and came inside and updated the firmware.
The bad news: Now my calid (PCM ID) is not supported by the Trinity. Thats no big deal because they add it to thier database and thats that. But they are closed for the weekend so I have to wait until Monday.
The good news: After getting all those other errors, the Trinity not only sees my PCM ID but also my TCM ID. So this means I will have TCM support as well. Now this is a blessing in disguise.
