Default PCM swap question

So, so ive seen more than a few swap threads with questions on 03 to 05 PCMs and never one really completed and working.

But what about swapping an 04 PCM/TCM for an 05 set?

Ive been going through the verbiage in the service manuals all day and they are the same. Now what i have not had time to look at are the pin output diagrams and electrical schematics. I guess i will try that tonight when i get home and can get on AllData.

But does anyone know any threads already on this or why it could not be done?

I tried to research this a while back when Diablo came out with full '05 support but not '04s. Thought if I could pull that off I'd be able to do my cam with a Diablo custom tune and not lose tranny support.

Found absolutely nothing on it at that time. Couldn't even get a definitive answer on BD, where all the tech guys hang ...

I find swapping a PCM interesting for obvious reasons. I think your upgrade is feasible but needs StarScan support. So you are practically talking about either doing this at the dealer or have a StarScanner available for your use. I spoke to a defunct dealer and they said they no longer had their StarScanner. As for an 03 upgrade I think the only practical way to do this would be to have an 05 donor truck to strip wiring and sensors from. It would still need to be taken to a dealer to have VIN codes and other control modules calibration's installed. My 02 cents is this is a tough nut to crack.

I know the PCM has to be programmed with the VIN by means of the DRBIII and supposedly the ABS broadcasts the VIN across the PCI bus so it all has to match or you will get DTCs.

Hammer, where or what is BD?

Once I get home tonight and can look at the pin layouts and diagrams I can see how the hardware may differ.

Just a few of the modules that need to be calibrated off the top of my head are PCM, CAB, TCCM and know doubt the security system. Good luck... Now if you had a good buddy at the dealer to work with, that would help. When I had my PCM flashed recently they charged me $79. I asked before they started how much to reflash and reset my ABS (CAB) and was quoted $37 TO $79. I don't know what they do for $37 as anything you do requires pluging in the StarScan. Maybe if they don't do anything it only costs $37 which doesn't sound like much of a deal. lol....

Ok, well I went through each and every pin on all four connectors on both the 04 and 05 NGC PCM and every circuit, wire gauge, color wire and location to component is the same.

I only wish i had the same info on the TCMs

Here are the upload pin outputs on the 04 and 05 NGC PCM's

This link is good for 7 days or 100 downloads so get it while its hot.
