efan help
The manual does mention NOT to run it anywhere but the battery. As long as the place you connect to has no paint, I'm not sure what difference it makes, but glad you got it figured out. You will like the fan.
Good Info, These units do a good Job. Like Weed mine runs after I walk away/shut her off, no battery issues so far even with the underdrive damper too. We will see how it works like at -40. I like the LEd idea because driving down the hwy I can't here nothing and would be nice to know how ofteh/long it runs. So far on mine (180 model) the max temp at 80 mph cruising at 80 degrees out side the temp is approx 222 degrees which is half on the factory guage. Its gonna hit 90-95 around here so I am curious if it will run hotter, as i might have to slow down, we'll see. I,ve rambled on an don't mean to Jack here but Weed if you see this again Where did you mount the 2nd battery? and do you just piggy back it onto the 1st Batt and what are your thoughts on when/if an upgrade to the bigger 160 Alt is required (Hammer)? (I use my tapedeck/nothing fancy for stereo).

The factory LED is for a different purpose. It doesn't show the fan running. It comes on for a few seconds when you start the engine. The new controller delays fan start for a few seconds so the battery is only starting the engine. It can also run the fan at a lower speed if you want.
If you want a "fan running" indicator, just tap the power connections to the fan. My indicator is mounted kinda low, so it isn't obnoxious.

It probably won't come on at all at -40. If it kicks on while you're on the highway, you have a serious problem anyway. Mine never runs on the highway, only when I'm crawling along in traffic.
