Rear end clicking noise
Went to PA the other day and on my way back, i noticed a clicking noise coming from my rear end. It's not a uniform noise... It doesn't have like a pattern to it or anything. It's just random and happens when coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop. Before i toss her on a stand and check her out, any opinons on what to look for? My first guess is a broken spring inside my emergency brakes. I did my rear brakes last year and my emergency brakes shoes were completly shot. I left them in as i don't use my emergency brake (not that thats a legit excuse) and just havn't got around to it. Maybe a wheel bearing? Hopefully not my rear end. I have the 3.92's in my truck. 4x4
my truck also does the same thing..
when i go from park to reverse an let off brake it chatters..
then from reverse to drive an i let off the brake, "click click"
would like to find out what the prob is..

OP, You could have the infamous broken clutch clips. This can ruin the rear end housing if not repaired. Hijacker #!, you may have a bad U joint. Hijacker #2 maybe a ball joint. Hard to tell without knowing more but somewhat common problems.
Greeeeaaaaatttt. Yeah, i've heard of that problem and was hoping that wasn't it. Well i'll toss her on the lift today or tomorrow and figure out whats up. I'll let you all know.
Typically the broken clutch pack retaining clips don't make any sound.
You just find them in the bottom of the pumkin after all the damage has been done.
In fact, I've NEVER read a thread where the clips/rear end have made a sound when they were at fault.
