agreed....i installed one as well with absolutely no issues....it is possible that you do have a bad resistor...things can happen, i have seen that. Its rare but its possible. Depends on the maker and the quality too...

Those 1/4w 4.7k ohm resistors are small and cannot take much heat. I take my resistor leads and bend them in half, dip them in flux and tin them very quickly. I take my wires and tin them also and then simply touch the wire and resistor together and blow them off to cool faster and that is all done in a split second. If you heat the resistor too much you will damage it.

After letting it cool, always check it with a meter to see what the resistance measurement it to make sure it is not damaged

OP, just throw a multi meter on the power wire and see what you get. if it isn't 4.7k ohms +-~5% you know its a bad power wire and you could get/make a new one. If it meters out correctly, remove it and see if it fixes your problem. Simple solution.

Yeah, thats the one. The only issue with that is it cost $55 new and it is the exact same 4.7k ohm 1/4 watt resistor in it too but just a bit more fancy with nice OEM plugs on it.
