Question need help w/45RFE

Hay everyone, just found your site, and it looks like I've come to the right place! I have a 2006 Ram Larami 5.7 Hemi, with a 45RFE 97,00 miles all highway.
While driving today, and while coasting down the interstate, the tranny lost torque, just like it went into neutral. When I let it slow down, it reinguaged, did that all day. When I parked, it would not inguage in reverse, or drive, placed it in 4 high, and it inguaged, put back into 2 high, and it pulled out. However on the way home, 60 miles, did the same thing all the way, would disinguage while coasting, not while pulling ???
Anyone see this before? Thanks for any help.

You have the 545RFE tranny. Have you checked your fluid? The transmission is electronic so it could be a sensor going bad. Some transmission trouble codes will show up on a DTC scanner. A superchips flashpaq programmer will work if you have one. I'm not much help but i thought i would throw some ideas around.

Maybe a moderator will move this to the 3rd gen section. You will get much more replys there.

I'd drop your pan and change your filters. Fluid used is ATF+4
That's where i would start because your past due for that anyways.

Welcome to DF first of all. Ck the fluid like badblackram06 had said, and ck the TCM/PCM for any stored codes. And post. Then remove the pan like dirtydog said and ck for debris, then replace the filters. Yes there are two filters in these tranmissions. If the fluid is low your transmission should have gone into limp-in and gave you P0944 loss of prime code, and the would make you think the transmission is in neutral. Also if the filter with the long neck has a crack, it will suck air and you will loose all forward and reverse gears.
