Default Self-Installing a Body Lift

I want to either put a 3" or 5" Performance Accessories Body Lift on. I want to self-install it to avoid the 1200 dollars or so to have it installed at a body shop. I've got some friends who know about this type of stuff, and I was wondering what other things we need to have in order to install the kit. We have a jack and typical stuff like that, but what else will we need? Any tips as well? Should I just have it installed at a body shop? Thanks.

i did mine with a buddy and it took us about 8 hours, but we also did a custom exhaust on my brothers ram at the same time. as long as you have a jack, a lot of tools, beer, and tunes you should be fine. one tip is when it came time to jack up the body to put the spacers in we used a 6X6 block on top of the jack to spread the weight more evenly and also so you dont scratch the paint....

The 5" kit is simply their 3" body lift combined with a 2" level kit, a good combo...

I installed my 3" PA BL by myself, with basic tools and never had done one before. So it is manageable. Their directions were very good.

Well I've already got a 2" level on there now, so I'll just go with the 3" body lift. Thanks for the help.

I've done three, had the luxury of the use of a friends tire shop on the last two I did, but you can do it in the driveway on jackstands.

+1 on the PA docs being excellent. I have the installation .pdf in the FAQ section if you wanna browse it before you get your kit...

Its pretty easy but time consuming and in the end well worth not paying someone to do it. I bought mine used on Ebay, it was missing one part and a few bolts. A friend who works at a machine shop fabbed up the part and I bought bolts at a bolt shop and ended up around $180 total.
